Dear Parents,

Happy Catholic Schools Week! We will celebrate the wonderful gifts of our faith and our school throughout the week. I am so very lucky to be working in our wonderful school.

The student council has planned many fun activities for our students this week at lunch. They have also declared the following special days. Today we celebrated Dividends for Life in our Nation by wearing red, white and blue and listening to the Knights of Columbus presentation on patriotism. Tuesday is “Crazy Hair Day.” Wednesday students should wear as much red as possible. Thursday is “Crazy Hat Day.”

The children will be visited by a couple of former students of St. Ann School. They will be able to ask former alumnus questions about their experiences at St. Ann School.

Please come to Open House this Thursday at 6:30 pm.

God bless,

Susan McDonald

Third Grade Goals This Week

Religion: We will study the Corporal Works of Mercy in preparation for Lent. We will memorize and recite them in class this week.
Reading: In “Reader’s Workshop” we will read Kids Did It! in Business. It is the third story in unit 4 with the theme of money.
Language: We will continue to work on the writing process. Writer’s Workshop is a time the students will work on stories they write, revise and edit. We will continue to focus on the basic requirements for sentences: subjects and predicates. Our scripture is: When the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the trumpet blast and the mountain smoking, they all feared and trembled. Exodus 20:18.
Spelling Words: Students will have a spelling test this week. The spelling words have contractions. The spelling words are: he’ll, she’ll, we’ll, I’d, we’d, they’ll, you’d, that’s, she’d, you’ll, it’s, she’s, what’s, I’m, and can’t. The vocabulary words are: malfunction, profitable, merchandise, earnings, donates and charity.
Math: We will continue to take timed multiplication tests. We will review multiplying with 0, 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10. We will focus on 4 and 8 multiples this week.
Social Studies: We will study the history of St. Ann School. We will interview former alumni about their time spent here at St. Ann School.
Handwriting: All students are practicing writing the letters in cursive using correct form and posture.
P.E.: We will continue square dancing.
