A Note from Our RoomMom
Hi Second Grade Parents,
On February 11th the school will be having a benefit concert to raise money for Haiti, on the same day we are hosting the Burrito Hot Lunch. The school is encouraging parents who attend the concert to buy a burrito with their child. We are hoping Mr. Zubia will be in need of some extra help in the kitchen on the 11th, and are looking for a few extra hands to assist him (great opportunity for parent participation hours). We are looking for 1 Volunteer – 10:00-11:00, 2 Volunteers – 10:30-12:00, and 1 Volunteer – 12:00-1:30. Please give me a call as soon as possible so I can get you scheduled, my cell is 371-5802.
Also, February 11th is our class Valentine’s Day party. We had a meeting on the 20th, and some great ideas came out of it. I’m scheduling a follow up meeting for Tomorrow night, February 2nd at 6:30 pm, at Starbucks. Hope to see you there!

Here’s What We Are Learning This Week
Every week I highlight what I am covering in class. This will give you an opportunity to talk with your child about specific subjects that we are covering. Not all topics are covered everyday. Be sure to always check to see what we are doing in 2nd Grade!
Reading –We are reading the story Animal Camouflage.
Phonics – Reviewing compound words, plurals, prefixes, and suffixes.
Writing – We are finishing our writing a process paragraphs.
Grammar - Reviewing grammar from this unit
Math –We are finishing our chapter on subtracting with regrouping and working with shapes.
Spelling – Basic words this week review rules from this unit.
Religion – We are continuing our preparation for the sacrament of Reconciliation.
