Principal’s Notes — 1/25/10
• Catholic Schools Week is next week. The theme this year is “Catholic Schools—Dividends for Life.” A schedule of events is on the reverse of my letter. I would like to highlight items on the schedule…
Many of our students will be involved in the Saturday/Sunday Masses this week as musicians, lectors, altar servers, gift bearers, etc. If your child has been given such a responsibility, please make sure he/she is wearing the school uniform and is at Mass 15 minutes early. Show your child where you are sitting (preferably near the front on the inside aisle). Then accompany your child to the sacristy where a teacher will help oversee your child’s involvement. Check this Monday Envelope for a note stating your child’s responsibility.
Our school week will begin with a prayer service in the church on Monday at 8:05 AM.
Please remember to invite friends and family to the Open House at 6:30 PM on Thursday, Feb. 4. Our Open House is an opportunity to let the public experience what Saint Ann School has to offer. We are enclosing an invitation for you to post at your place of business or to give to an acquaintance (additional copies are available at your request). Remember – if you refer a new family who subsequently enrolls, you will receive a $100.00 H.E.A.R.T. card.
Please note on the schedule the special dress code items for Catholic Schools Week.
Remember – the Family Art Project is due on Wednesday, Feb. 3, or sooner. Although this project is optional, we would like to display all submitted projects in the School Office. Reflections/poems are also due on Wednesday. It would be nice to read our students’ thoughts at Open House.
• The Saint Ann School Science Fair is tomorrow. Projects will be on display in the Parish Center from 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM. The awards will be announced at 7:00 PM. Please plan on taking your child’s project home with you after the awards are announced.
• Please make plans to attend the Saint Ann School Car Raffle Fundraiser on this Saturday, January 30 – it is a very fun event! Organizers are in need of help cleaning the equipment when they take it over to the Kerr-McGee Center on Saturday. Please call Larry Riendeau (446-9016) or Dan Ommen (371-3429) if you can help with this and would like to earn parent hours.
• Important H.E.A.R.T. Card News – Starting February 1, Albertsons will no longer be giving the 1% credit for using Community Partner Cards. Albertsons Inc. will instead be donating directly to a few key charities in our community (focusing on hunger, health and nutrition). You will still be earning credit when purchasing Albertsons H.E.A.R.T. cards.
• Report cards for the 1st Semester are coming home in this Monday Envelope.
• On February 11, the students will present a concert to benefit the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. The concert will be held from 11:00 AM -12:00 noon in the Parish Center, and donations will be accepted at the door. There will also be a Silent Auction of donated items. Students are very excited about this concert, and to encourage parents/guardians to attend, we are holding the concert before our Thursday Burrito Lunch. You may choose to purchase a lunch with your child by noting this on the hot lunch order slip that will come home that week. Since this is the beginning of our four-day Presidents’ Holiday Weekend, this lunch will be a “to-go” lunch and school will actually be dismissed after the concert at noon. You will be able to get your lunch right there in the Parish Center and then get an early start on your holiday weekend. Since this was not originally scheduled on the school calendar, we realize that some of you might have difficulty making child care arrangements. We will open the Extended Day Program until 2:40 PM (the normal end of the school day) at no cost to any school family who needs it, as long as you let us know by Wednesday, February 10.
