• Middle School basketball has had some exciting games. The girls’ team won first place in the El Tejon Tournament this last weekend. See this week’s schedule below for their games against South Fork.

• The Saint Ann School Science Fair is Tuesday, January 26. It looks like we have enough judges; thanks to all of you who volunteered.

• All of you know, I’m sure, about the earthquake that has caused so much devastation in Haiti, an already impoverished nation. The school is working on hosting a concert to benefit the victims. Stay tuned as these plans are coming together. Students may also earn money doing chores around the house, and we will have a container to collect donations from the students at morning assembly. It’s important that our students experience the Corporal Works of Mercy.

• With the likelihood of rain throughout this week (and possibly next week), students will be eating most of their snacks/lunches indoors in the classroom. I ask you to have pity on our carpets and send food that doesn’t spill easily or that doesn’t stain when it is spilled. Please especially refrain from sending colored drinks. If it is raining, parents who are assigned yard duty do not need to come since students will be inside. Thus Friday’s spaghetti lunch has been canceled.

• Car Raffle News:

The 22nd Annual Saint Ann School Car Raffle is less than two weeks away! This is the largest school fundraiser, so your support is critical. The event will be held on January 30 at the Kerr McGee Center. Doors open at 6:00 PM. Dinner starts at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the Saint Ann School Office and after Masses this weekend for a donation of $250.00 per ticket (remember that $210 of this is tax deductible). The purchase of one raffle ticket gives ticket holders a chance to win $13,000, which may be used toward the purchase of a new car. Numerous other prizes are also awarded during the evening to lucky winners. Each raffle ticket includes two dinner tickets. Additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $20. The winning ticket must be present to win.

Please remember that each Saint Ann School family is responsible for buying or selling one car raffle ticket. If your family has not bought or sold your ticket by Friday, January 22, we will sell your ticket to someone else, and your family will be billed for the cost of the ticket. We still need 48 more school families to purchase their tickets. So far we have only sold 96 out of 200 tickets. Please support quality Christian education in Ridgecrest!

We have all four time slots available for those of you who want to try to sell your ticket after this weekend Masses (the last weekend for sales)! The schedule is posted in the School Office.

Organizers are in need of someone with a full size pickup or a trailer to help transport the equipment to and from the event. If you can help (and earn parent hours), please contact Larry Riendeau at 446-9016. Earn Parent Hours!

• Thank you so much for saving the Box Tops for Education. Our school earned almost $500 through your efforts. This is an on-going program, so we hope you keep collecting them. Thank you to Mrs. Cori Muhle for coordinating this program for the school. Our next deadline for turning in Box Tops if February 10.
