Principal’s Notes — 11/30/09

• Congratulations to Miss West, our second grade teacher, who married Mr. Brad Bruna this weekend. If you went to the Holiday Bazaar, you probably saw Mr. Bruna in his booth selling his beautiful photographs. Please join me in asking the Lord to bless them as they start their new life together.

• The School Advisory Council will meet tonight at 7:00 PM in the school library. You are all invited to attend. We would be delighted to have more parents attend to discuss efforts to increase enrollment and make school improvements.

• Our HEART (Scrip) promotion contest has ended and appears to have been very successful! Winners will be announced next week after Mrs. Welsh tabulates all of the orders.

• We still have 30 boxes of See’s Candy chocolate left from the Holiday Bazaar. Here is a list of what is available: 7 boxes of Dark; 5 boxes of Soft Centers; 10 boxes of Milk; 8 boxes of Assorted. You may purchase these for $15.50/box in the School Office. Checks should be made out to Saint Ann School.

• Mrs. Blubaugh has volunteered to drive her SUV & trailer in the Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec 12. We plan to have the students (with parent helpers) make a poster to hang on the sides of the trailer. Permission slips will be sent home to the students who return the below Parade Survey by Wednesday.

• It’s time to start at least thinking of our next school fundraiser, the Car Raffle!

 Volunteers are needed for putting out posters, soliciting for prize donations and selling tickets after Masses. A sign-up sheet for volunteering will be in the School Office soon – or contact Larry Riendeau (our Car Raffle co-chairperson) for more details. This is our most profitable fundraiser, so we really need you to help out. Earn Parent Hours for helping!

 Tickets are now available so please be thinking about what you would like to do with your family ticket. Remember – each school family is responsible for selling or buying one ticket. If you want to buy yours but cannot cover the entire cost yourself, you might consider sharing the cost with members of your extended family or with other friends. (Of course, you would have to split the winnings, but you’d still come out ahead.)

• Mark your calendars for the Saint Ann School Christmas Program on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 6:30 PM in the Parish Center. Please make sure your child arrives by 6:15 PM. Students should look for their classroom teacher who will show them their designated seats. Please make time in your busy schedules to attend – the program is not long, but it will definitely help you get into the Christmas spirit. There will be a reception with treats after the program. We will need about three dozen cookies per class for the reception; please contact your room parent if you would like to bring cookies. At the reception we will be offering for sale some of the crafts from the Holiday Bazaar. If you weren’t able to visit the Bazaar, now’s your second chance. All proceeds from this “mini sale” will go to the technology fund.

• If you are contemplating making charitable contributions prior to the year-end tax deadline, please consider donating to the Saint Ann School technology fund. We have two major expenses for which we need to find the resources: upgrading our network hardware and purchasing two LCD projectors that will complement our new SMARTBoards. If you are able to make a tax deductible contribution to help us meet this need, you may either mail or drop off your donation at the School Office. Any amount would be appreciated. Please make a note on the check/cash that your donation is to go to the technology fund.
