Principal’s Notes — 11/9/09
• The Holiday Bazaar is this weekend. As usual, a highlight of the Bazaar is the delicious food for sale. We hope you are all baking up a storm! (Reminder—Baked goods can be dropped off Thursday in the school office or to the Parish Center kitchen anytime during the bazaar.) You can also enjoy Indian fry bread, taco salads, burritos, hamburgers, etc. on-site both Friday and Saturday (see enclosed menu). Freshly baked cinnamon rolls will be available on Sunday after Mass.
• Some of the students expressed concern that the craft items they made might be purchased by someone other than their parents/guardians (they are very proud of their beautiful work!). To give you the first opportunity to buy these items, we are including an order form on the bottom of this newsletter. If you would like to pre-order your child’s item, fill out the form below and return it in an envelope with the correct dollar amount by this Thursday. We will then remove your child’s item from the craft table or otherwise mark it sold. You may then pick it up at your convenience during the Bazaar. All other items will be for sale to the general public.
• The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the multi-purpose room of the Parish Center during the Bazaar. Remember—books are gifts that bring joy and delight to readers of all ages! All profit from this sale will help us buy new books for our school library.
• Enclosed is the Holiday Bazaar Volunteer Schedule We still need help covering our booths at the Holiday Bazaar. Please call Kelly Hastings (371-1941) if you can work any of these two-hour shifts: one person for 12:00 PM-2:00 PM on Friday at See’s Candy; one person for 2:00 PM-4:00 PM on Friday at Raffle; two people in the kitchen on Friday from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM; two people on Saturday in the kitchen from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM; two people for the Raffle table on Sunday from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.
• Supervision during Holiday Bazaar: If you would like to eat lunch with your child on Friday, please take your lunch down to the eating area at the playground. Also, because we must keep track of where students are at all times during the school day, we are asking that you not meet or take your child to the Bazaar during school hours. It is very difficult to maintain proper supervision when lots of students are coming and going. You may make arrangements to take your child to the Bazaar after he/she is dismissed at 2:40 PM.
• Congratulations to the Middle School Volleyball team for winning 2nd Place at the Trona Tournament on Saturday!
• Please join us at the PTG meeting this Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM in the school library. We will discuss the Car Raffle and, of course, the Holiday Bazaar. We would appreciate your input on how to increase parent involvement in fundraisers and parent meetings.
• Tomorrow, November 10, we will have a Veterans Day celebration at 2:00 PM at the Parish Center. We invite any veterans who are part of our Saint Ann School community to join us in front of the flagpole at the Parish Center. We would like someone to say a few remarks to the students. If you are interested, please contact the school office or 3rd Grade teacher, Mrs. McDonald. Students may wear patriotic shirts, socks and/or hats tomorrow in support of our veterans.
• Remember we have no school this Wednesday in celebration of Veterans Day.
• Please see your teacher’s Monday Letter explaining the “Pounds for the Poor” contest going on from today until November 20.
• The H.E.A.R.T. Card Sell-Off Contest begins today. From now through November 22, you have the opportunity to double your scrip profit earned during this contest if you are one of the top two sellers (highest amount of contribution earned) or the most improved scrip seller. Everyone has a chance to win (particularly if you start your Christmas shopping early!). Buy H.E.A.R.T. cards (scrip) and help the school!!
