• Welcome to the Rogers family who just moved to Ridgecrest from Louisiana. Blake is in the Third Grade and Kyle is in First Grade.

• As stated in your green Academic Calendar, students will not have school this Wednesday, April 9. The teachers will be attending an in-service in Visalia.

• Two Saint Ann School students won awards at the Kern County Science Fair. Please join me in congratulating Allie
(Gr. 5) who placed 3rd and Leah (Gr. 6) who placed 2nd!! Because of the judges’ decision, Leah will be going on to the state level of competition.

• Yo-Yo’s for sale through this Friday, April 11. We were treated with a free presentation of “The N.E.D. Show” last week where Clyde gave the students an entertaining character-building message along with a yo yo show. As of tomorrow, we will be re-stocked with all three types of yo-yo’s – which will be on sale only until this Friday. Students are allowed to play with their yo-yo’s (until further notice) in the quad during recesses.

• We have been invited to participate in a local Track Meet coordinated by Jay Kovar and Ronny Schiller next Wednesday, April 16, at Cerro Coso from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. All of the same ages/events as Junior Olympics will be available. If your child is interested in participating or if you are interested in volunteering to help (timers, scorers, etc.), please contact the school office.

• Registration information and forms will be in next week’s Monday Envelope. The due date for the forms and registration fee will be April 29.

• Tuition assistance applications are now available in the School Office. If you are concerned that you cannot afford the new tuition rate, Fr. Bob and I encourage you to apply. Although the tuition rates won’t be published until next week, we know the rates will be higher next year due to our increased costs, so even with an estimate you probably know whether you need tuition assistance. You may pick up the forms and get started filling them out. As we have stated so many times in the past, no family should ever leave Saint Ann School because of financial considerations. Completed tuition assistance forms are due by April 15.

• Additional Parish Contribution – Please remember that the $100.00 per child “Additional Parish Contribution” is due in full by May 1, 2008.

• There will be a Middle School Information Night for parents of 4th/5th grade students and anyone else interested on Thurs., April 10, at 6:30 PM in Room 6 of the Middle School. Parents will learn about the Middle School program at Saint Ann School and discuss how to help their children make a smooth transition.

• 5th Grade Basketball is in action! Free admission at the Kerr-McGee gym! Please come cheer!
April 8 (Tues), Boys @ 5:00 PM vs Gateway

• On Friday Mrs. McDonald will be taking students to the Battle of the Books competition in Bakersfield. These students have been working hard to read the required books and prepare to answer questions about them. Thanks to Mrs. McDonald, Mrs. Jorgensen and Miss Rossi for helping get this program started here at Saint Ann School.
