Principal’s Notes — 3/4/08

• I hope you had a wonderful long weekend with your family. The teachers, staff and I enjoyed the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim. Attendance at this inspiring event was larger than ever—over 40,000 Catholics from around the world gathered to examine more deeply our Catholic faith! We thank the parish for giving us this opportunity to renew spiritually and to learn how to be better religious educators.

• Parent-Teacher Conferences are March 17-20. These conferences provide you with a unique opportunity to collaborate with your child’s teacher. The resulting advice, strategies, and insights can help both you and your child’s teacher enhance your child’s success in school. Please remember to sign up for your preferred conference time in the School Office starting tomorrow. Remember to let us know if you would like to use our Extended Day Program for your children during the conference minimum days for $7.50 per day from 11:30 AM to 2:15 PM or $15 per day from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

• Welcome back, Mrs. Miller! Mrs. Miller has returned after taking leave to be with her new daughter Li Mei. Although Mrs. Rockdale did a marvelous job as Kindergarten substitute, your students are delighted to have you back. Mrs. Rockdale will now return to her position as Reading Resource Teacher. We also must thank Bill Walters, Charlotte Ostermann, Lori Perry and Lorraine Horn for taking on Mrs. Rockdale’s duties during this time.

• Please join us this Friday and each Friday in Lent (except Good Friday) for the Fish Fry. This week’s Fish Fry is hosted by the Kindergarten and Fifth Grade. It is very important that every school family make the effort to work at least one Fish Fry if possible. The sign-up sheets are in the School Office. If you cannot work the dinner hosted by your child’s class, you may still sign up for another dinner.

• This Friday, March 7, is a minimum day for students with 11:30 AM dismissal. Teachers will be working on accreditation tasks.

• Junior Olympics tryout forms are due tomorrow, March 5. Thank you to Mrs. Paula Welsh again for coordinating our school try-outs for this citywide event.

• There will be a Kindergarten Information Night on Wednesday, April 2, from 6:30 PM 7:30 PM in the Kindergarten Room. This meeting will explain our Kindergarten program and the Gesell Test to anyone planning to enroll their child in our Kindergarten next fall. It would also be of interest to anyone of your acquaintance who has a student ready to begin Kindergarten. Don’t forget our referral program – for every family you refer who enrolls in Saint Ann School, you will earn one free month’s tuition for one child!

• Please join us this Friday for Mass hosted by the Third Grade and Stations of the Cross (this week at 10:50 AM).

• Remember – Tuition/EDP payments are due by next Monday, March 10.
