The projects were seen at the Parish Center on Feb. 15, 2007. The project my group members and I did was to see Which soil is the most efficient. The hypothesis of the project was that manure would be better for lima beans than dirt or potting soil.
The materials needed for this project were:The project itself was very interesting, although I should start with how we first got our project idea. The way we first got our project was everybody had two topics with two investigative questions each. We then narrowed it down to three questions, then made three hypotheses, then we chose the one we liked the most. The way we carried out this plant project was:
  1. We gathered the materials.
  2. We planted the the seeds.
  3. We watered and monitored the seeds each day.
  4. Then we looked at the growth data.

The data was very interesting it showed that the manure and the potting soil grew the same to the same length. Our conclusion later stated that our hypothesis was null and the dirt grew the most. The lengths of each of the seeds were that dirt grew to 3cm long and the potting soil & manure grew to be 1.5 cm long. A chart below will show the differences of the plant lengths:

This is an example of dirt.
This is an example of potting soil and manure. The amount of water we used to water the plant was 200 mL although we did not water each plant with 200 mL each. The amount of growth time that the plants were allowed was around two weeks.
The reason why we found out the plants grew to be that length is because the teacher told us to dig up the seeds. The reason why we had to do that is because the seeds didn't penetrate the surface of the soil.
The plant lengths were recorded and then we started to get things ready for the Science Fair. The Science Fair was very fun and a bit challenging as far as making the report afterwards. The report was about the project and we had to present it to the entire class. It was around eight paragraphs long and based on the seven questions we had to answer in our log book and the conclusion of the project. The last part we had to do was make a cover sheet and that about sums up my Science Fair project.
