Ireland
Ireland
The Middle School did a week long educational project about different cultures around the world. Ireland was the culture the eighth grade did for the Cultural Immersion project. Seventh grade was split up into two groups, one did Japan and the other did Inca. Sixth grade was split into three groups: Aztec, Portugal, and India. Each group had the whole day to immerse us into their culture. Eighth grade presented their culture on Monday, March 26.
On presenting day, the eighth grade immersed the audience into the literature, mathematics, science, architecture, history, technology, fine arts, food, games and entertainment, land, and religon of Ireland. I presented science and food during the Culture Immersion. The foods we ate were apple pie, tea, stew, and soda bread. For science I presented Irish scientists. There were eight eighth graders presenting Ireland.
During the Culture Immersion, we talked about the different subjects and sometimes we had fun activities and sometimes tests. Some activities we did were: draw what we thought Ireland looked like, made a building out of clay, crossword puzzles, played soccer and handball, and drew Celtic crosses. I think our presentation of Ireland went very well. It looked like our audience never got bored and seemed to enjoy it. It was good that we had it planned out and it was organized with a schedule.
I had a great time doing our culture. I loved making the food and making our costumes, it was fun. This experience was great because now I know more about Ireland and all the other cultures and now I can tell others about this. I would love to do this again and do another culture.
