The German Life in 1820 - 1869.
The eighth grade for the cultural immersion project decided to do the German immigrants between 1820 - 1869. We would have done the Irish immigrants, but took a vote and Germany won by a single person. Most of our presentation was from a site that mainly Lexy and her mom came up with. The site was Bill and Ted's Awesome Adventure. It was about two guys getting a D+ on a report on Germany during our same time period. So their teacher, Ms. Frizzle, took them back in time in her magic VW. As they were traveling, they learened several facts like - Germany doesn't have a state bird,
- the different religions they practice,
- their traditional clothing,
- and some phrases in German.
When they got finished with their journey and got back home, they finished their final draft and got a B+. For the different activities, we
- had the students take a quiz on German sayings
- had them take a quiz on what they learned from our site
- taught them a dance which was a polka
- had them do a paper quilt, which is one thing they did to pass
- finally, did hopscotch and baseball.
