Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .
February 14, 2005
- Reminder of the Up-Coming Minimum Day and Holidays: This Thursday, February 17, is a minimum day and school will be dismissed at 11:30 AM. In addition, there is no school on Friday, February 18. The school and parish religious educators will be attending the Religious Education Congress in Anaheim. Monday, February 21, is the Presidents' Day holiday. Enjoy your long weekend!
- Lent began last week with Ash Wednesday. After attending Mass and receiving ashes, students participated in various activities in their classrooms to help deepen their understanding of this important liturgical season. Students will be learning almsgiving as they participate in the “Rice Bowl” program, collecting money for the poor through Catholic Relief Services. We invite you to join us every Friday at 1:30 PM in the church for Stations of the Cross. To continue the spirit of sacrifice, there are not bake sales or ice cream sales during Lent.
- Please see the green Tsunami Relief CD Pre-Order sheet in this Monday Envelope. These CDs recorded by SASSY have already raised approximately $1,000.00 for the tsunami relief fund! Please consider ordering a copy for your family, grandparents and friends.
- Your child's Fox Photo class picture has finally arrived and is enclosed if you ordered one when pictures were taken in October.
- Our Chess Class will now gather every Friday at lunch time. Thank you to our volunteers, Mr. Jim McDonald and Mr. John Rongish. All interested students are welcome to come to the Multi-Purpose Room after eating lunch each Friday.
- Parish Directories are here! If your family had their picture taken by the Olan Mills photographers last spring, you may pick up your directory in the church office during regular office hours (8:30 AM - 12:30 PM).
- The Lenten Parish Mission will be starting next week. Mr. Larry Farrell will be giving this mission next Monday through Thursday at 6:25 AM Mass (with conference after Mass) and at 7:00 PM Mass (with conference during the Homily).
- Last Friday was the first parish Fish Fry of Lent. Please join us each Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Parish Center for fish, chips, coleslaw, lemonade and coffee. The students planning on attending World Youth Day will be hosting the first three fish fry dinners. Middle School, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade will host the last three dinners. Middle School, 4th and 5th Grade teachers will be contacting parents to help.
