Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .
November 1, 2004
- I must start this newsletter with some thoughts about the Oktoberfest / Casino Night / Halloween Carnival. First of all, I want to thank all those involved in making this evening such a success: Greg Perry whose vision started everything; Brenda Cornelius and Susan McKnight who worked tirelessly on games, decorations, donations, etc.; Kathleen Schumacher, all Room Parents, and Bill Allen who worked on scheduling; Kathleen LaBrie and the cashiers; Liz Aldridge and the kitchen helpers; Fr. Bob, the Marines, and others who were dealers; the clean-up crew; those who donated or discounted goods and raffle prizes; and all the many others who gave of their time and energy.
I know I speak for many of you when I say that the baskets put together on behalf of each class were remarkable! Clearly a great deal of time and effort went into their creation, and the bidding on them raised over $500. Thank you to all who made this possible.
I also want to share one reason why I think events such as the Oktoberfest, Casino Night, Halloween Carnival and Holiday Bazaar are so important. Even though they are school fundraisers, they bring together school families, other parishioners and members of the Ridgecrest and China Lake communities. Our Mission Statement calls us to promote the complete development of each child to serve the wider communities. Events such as these help us realize that these communities can join together in helping us provide a quality education for your children.
- We have frozen lasagna that was not needed on Saturday evening, and Greg Perry suggested that we offer this to those coming for the spaghetti lunch this Friday. If you would like lasagna rather than spaghetti, please write “lasagna” and the number of servings requested on the spaghetti lunch order slip. The cost will be the same as for spaghetti. We will only heat up enough for those who request it in advance.
- Innisbrook orders will be available for the students to pick-up in their classrooms on Friday. If your child has a large order, the boxes will be in the Parish Center for you to pick up.
- Please look for important information regarding the Holiday Bazaar in this Monday Envelope.
