September 20, 2004

  • Last week Ms. Finneran forwarded to me an email from an acquaintance regarding a Catholic school in Orlando that was badly damaged by Hurricanes Charley and Frances. I'm quite sure that the rain that came with Hurricane Ivan did nothing to improve their situation! Our students have eagerly taken the students of Good Shepherd Catholic School to their hearts, and they are helping in a variety of ways:
    • Students in 4th Grade would like to donate the proceeds from the sale of baked goods during their Spaghetti Lunches. They would appreciate the donation of baked items to support their efforts. If you are willing to help, you may send baked goods to school with your child on Spaghetti Lunch Fridays (beginning this Friday; check school calendar for dates of future lunches).
    • At morning assembly each day we will have a large plastic jar in which students may drop any change they would like to donate.
    • We, of course, encourage all students and their families to remember the people of Good Shepherd Catholic School in their daily prayers.
Our students are demonstrating their commitment to one of our Schoolwide Learning Expectations: A student attending Saint Ann School is a Catholic learner who expresses faith through Christian service.
  • We are still in need of someone to oversee our Saint Ann Arts and Crafts Show (Holiday Bazaar) scheduled for November 19-21. People have already stepped forward and offered to help with various projects; however, it is difficult to get going without someone to coordinate the efforts of the volunteers. As I have mentioned previously, this event has been well planned in the past, and there are detailed instructions about what needs to be done. You don't need to have been involved in it previously to be this year's chairperson.
  • The Middle School girls Volleyball team is doing very well! Yeah team!!
Games are at James Monroe Middle School Gymnasium.
    This week's schedule:
    Mon.:  4:30 - 5:15 game vs. Murray Team A
    Tues.:  3:00 - 3:45 game vs. Trona

Free admission…come on out and cheer the team on.

  • A week from today your child(ren) will be bringing home the catalog for the Innisbrook Fundraiser. Please remember that we do not want children going door-to-door unsupervised. This will still be a successful fundraiser if they sell to family members, close friends, co-workers, etc. Thank you in advance for supporting your child in his/her effort to sell these fine products.
  • There will be another planning meeting for the Saint Ann Oktoberfest and Casino on Tuesday, September 21, at 7:00 PM in the School Library. See the separate flyer in this Monday Envelope for more information. If your business would like to sponsor a game table for $75, a sign will be placed on the game table acknowledging your contribution. Contact Greg Perry if you are interested.
  • We still have about 12 book covers for sale in the School Office for $3.00 each. These covers are marvelous because they stay on and rarely need to be replaced. Proceeds from the sale will go to Student Council.
