Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .
September 13, 2004
As you read this newsletter, you will notice the many times I thank different individuals for their support of our school. I am constantly amazed at the generosity of our parents as they take on various responsibilities-room parent, fundraiser, homework helper, coach, etc. This list of needs seems endless, but so does the commitment and willingness of our parents seem endless. To the many of you we have always counted on-Thank you! We hope to add some new faces to your ranks to lessen your load.
- Greg Perry hosted a meeting last week to get our Saint Ann Oktoberfest and Carnival, scheduled for October 30, off the ground. Several people have agreed to oversee various committees, but he still needs many more to get involved. This is a spin-off of our very successful Luau/Casino Night held last spring. It is a very fun event to both work and attend. Please contact Greg if you are willing to help out.
- Thank you to Kathy Schumacher who volunteered to be our Head Room Parent for the year. Kathy is a familiar face to most of you because of her many years of hard work on the Holiday Bazaar. She's ready to take on this new challenge.
- Speaking of the Holiday Bazaar (a.k.a. Holiday Arts and Crafts Show), Kathy Schumacher has already arranged everything for the outside vendors. However, we are still looking for someone to organize the making and selling of food and our craft sales. This is where most of our profit is made, so it's important that we begin planning. We always have willing hands to bake, cook and make crafts, but we struggle to find someone to oversee this work. Kathy and Gloria Avalos have done a wonderful job of documenting what needs to be done, so you don't need to feel unprepared to take on this responsibility.
- The Middle School girls' volleyball team has its first games this week. All games are held in the Monroe gymnasium. Please come cheer them on.
This week's schedule is:
Mon., 9/13 3:45-4:30 vs. Monroe #1
Wed., 9/15 3:00-3:45 vs. Murray A
Thurs., 9/16 3:00-3:45 vs. Monroe #1
- Thank you to Francine Rall and Kathy Winterly who have agreed to chair the Innisbrook fundraiser. Students will be selling these products from September 27 through October 12. They earned over $6,000 for the school last year, and we hope this year will be equally successful.
- Chess Club is still in need of a parent to help teach the students the game. It's amazing how quickly they learn the fundamentals-then just sit back and watch them go! Ms. Gibbs has volunteered to be a staff person on duty during these meetings that happen about once a month on a flex Friday.
- · If you haven't yet been to one of our school Masses, try to set time aside to attend. It's very meaningful to the students to have their parents sit with them during Mass-especially when their class is responsible for the Mass. I find the student Masses provide me with a renewed sense of purpose of why we work so hard to provide a Catholic education for your children.
