Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .
September 7, 2004
- Thanks to all of you who attended Back to School Night last week. As I heard many teachers mention, you (parents and guardians) are a vital part of the educational partnership. Your child always benefits when we strengthen the communication between home and school. Thank you to all of our hard-working teachers and staff who worked so hard to prepare for this important yearly event.
- Unfortunately, very few people signed up to help with the various fundraising events we have planned. Please understand that the success of these fundraisers is crucial in keeping tuition costs down. The same few people take on the responsibility every year. We would like to see every family commit to working on at least one fundraiser. Our Innisbrook fundraiser needs a chairperson right away. This is a well-organized program, and it just needs someone to get the ball rolling.
- There will be a meeting for anyone interested in helping with the Saint Ann Carnival and Casino Night at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 8, in the School Library. This event, scheduled for October 30, will combine the Halloween Carnival and a dinner/casino similar to the Luau held last spring. It was great fun for both the participants and the workers.
- Dennis Uniform Company will be on campus this Friday, September 10, from noon to 3:00 PM in the Parish Center. If you have not already gotten Dennis Uniform scrip to pay for your purchases, Missy Walkling will have some available on Friday at the same time you pick out your child's uniform.
- We want to remind you to review the Saint Ann Parent/Student Handbook regarding our uniform policy. Already several students and their parents have been notified that they are not conforming to this policy (shorts that are too short and/or tight, sweatshirts that are not red or have logos printed on them, fingernail polish, excessive jewelry, etc.). This can cause children to feel embarrassed or to lose class time while they call home for a change of clothes or come to the School Office to remove polish. Again, we ask parents/guardians to monitor this.
- We are still searching for a Head Room Parent. This person's main responsibility would be to provide a means of communication between individual Room Parents and the School Office.
- This year the Anniversary of the September 11th attacks falls on a Saturday. Students will commemorate this event in their classrooms on Friday.
Reminders:
We are looking forward to a school year full of God's blessings to our faith community.
Thank you for joining us in our mission to be an effective education instrument of the Catholic Church.
