6th Grade
Language Arts-“The Fun of It” will be read keeping in mind the objectives:
- understand and appreciate an autobiography,
- understand author's purpose in an autobiography,
- recognize difference between first and third person point of view.
Spelling/Vocabulary Test on Friday, Nov. 5th. Words are from “The Fun of It”.
Social Studies- Chapter 3 objectives:
- to compare and contrast goals of classic and modern archaeology,
- analyze the effect of new evidence and techniques on archaeological assumptions,
and to review Chap. 3 in order to complete a test on Chap. 3 on Thursday, Nov. 4th or Friday, Nov. 5th.
Science- Students will continue to learn about different types of rocks. They will focus on both ingenious and sedimentary rocks this week.
Math- This week students will work on unit 3, Number Theory and Fraction Concepts. They will learn be comparing fractions, learning about simplest forms, terminating and repeating decimals, and using bar graphs. There will be a review on Tuesday November 9th and a unit test on Wednesday.
Religion-Students will review Chap. 4 in preparation for the Chap. 4 Quiz on Wednesday, Nov. 3rd.
We will begin Chap. 5, “God Reveals a Plan of Love,” this week. The students will define salvation history and identify its three phases.
PE - Students will continue to improve their skills in flag football by working on blocking, stance, kick-off and returns, and snapping the ball. There will be a tournament this week to wrap-up this unit.

7th Grade
Language Arts-Literature - Student objectives:
- to understand and appreciate lyric poems about sharing time with others and about crossroads in life,
- to understand and appreciate an essay that emphasize the author's feelings towards homelessness.
Spelling/Vocabulary Test on Friday, Nov. 5th.
Outside Reading of “Jacob Have I Loved”, chapters 10, 11 & 12, keep in mind the study skill of understanding cause/effect relationships.
Social Studies- In Chapter 4, “The Empire of Islam”, (pg. 78 - 84) major changes in the Muslim Empire during its century of expansion are discussed. It explores the Umayyad's rise to power, their system of government, their impact on Muslim culture and commerce, and their decline of control in the eastern Muslim Empire.
Science- Students will finish Chapter 3, Cells the Building Blocks of Life, this week. They will have a review on Monday, November 8th, with a written test on Tuesday and a Lab test on Wednesday.
Math- This week students will be studying customary units of measurement. They will finish this unit next week, with the test on Wednesday, November 10th.
Religion-Students will finish Chapter 5 and the test will be on Thursday.
PE - Students will continue to improve their skills in flag football by working on blocking, stance, kick-off and returns, and snapping the ball. There will be a tournament this week to wrap-up this unit.

8th Grade
Language Arts-Literature, “The Horned Toad” will be read keeping in mind the objectives:
- to understand and appreciate a short story about the meaning of home,
- to appreciate and understand the use of Spanish words and phrases in the story.
Spelling/Vocabulary Test on Friday, Nov. 5th. Words are from “The Horned Toad”.
Social Studies- Students will be completing Chapter 2, “Reviewing the American Revolution” by creating a “Mini-Report” on the chapter.
Science- Students will be wrapping up Chapter 3 this week, with a written test on Thursday and the lab test on Friday. The study guide is due on Thursday before the test. The Precious Knowledge assignment is due on Friday, November 5th.
Math-Students will learn about solving equations with variables on both sides, ratios and proportions, percent of change and solving equations and formulas. They will be having a quiz over sections 1-5, next Wednesday.
Religion- Students will finish Chapter 5 and the test will be on Thursday.

Health - Students will learn what makes up the respiratory and excretory systems and how they work.
