6th Grade
Language Arts-Students are continuing to complete their Outside Reading. The weekly Spelling/Vocabulary Test will be Friday, Oct. 1. Having completed Chap. 1 on Grammar, additional time will be spent this week on indirect objects for all students.
Social Studies- Students are keeping track of their social studies assignments and grades on their Student Assignment Record Sheet. It gives parents an opportunity to check student progress. This week, a parent signature is required on the back of the Student Assignment Record Sheet. (This sheet is kept in the right hand side of the student's Social Studies Folder.)
Science- Students will start Unit 2 Earth's Resources this week
Math- Students will have a quiz on sections 1-6 on Wednesday.
Religion-Because we need to spend more time on Chapter 2 of the text, the quiz has been postponed to Wed., Sept. 29th. The progress report for Religion will follow that quiz.
PE - This week students will be focusing on the physical activity pyramid. There will be an activity comparison assignment due on Friday.

8th Grade

Health - Students will learn about proper diets. This will include proper techniques about maintaining, losing and gaining weight based on scientific research. We will also talk about eating disorders. Reading Food Labels assignment is due on Wednesday.

General Notes:
The Middle School has been invited to participate in the Kern County Air Show on Wednesday, October 6th. Earlier this month, students received information about the Neville Vanover Technology Competition and School Science Project for the Air Show. The Middle School is taking a field trip to the Inyokern Airport on that day to take part in the field day. We need drivers!! All drivers need to have their proper insurance coverage and current vehicle registration on file in the school office.
Please sign and return the field trip permission slip by Friday, October 1st.
Our Middle School volleyball team will be participating in a tournament this Saturday, Oct. 2nd, at Garces High School in Bakersfield. We will be playing 7th/8th Grade teams in the small-school division. We will be departing from the Saint Ann parking lot at 8:30 AM and returning at approximately 9:00 PM. Carpooling will be available for anyone who needs a ride. An entrance fee of $3.00 per spectator will be charged. More details and driving directions will be handed out directly to the team at practice tonight.

Volleyball News - This Friday's game at Lone Pine has been cancelled.
