6th Grade

Language Arts-In Literature, students will use the reading strategy of visualizing to help understand setting, characters, and action in the short story “Scout's Honor” p. 53. Spelling/Vocabulary test on Friday Sept. 17th.

Social Studies- Each night this week students are going over the Daily Geography for the weeks of 8-23, 8-30, 9-6, and this week 9-13 to make any corrections. These corrected weeks of Daily Geography will be used Friday, Sept. 17th to complete the first Daily Geography quiz.

Science- Students are starting chapter 2, Maps as Models of Earth. They will also start a Topography Map assignment that will be due next Wednesday. Students will need to work on this project some at home.

Math- Students will finish Unit 1 this week. There will be a review on Thursday and a test on Friday.

Religion-Students will have an open book quiz on Chapter 1, Tuesday 9-14. They will use a study sheet to prepare for this quiz. In the beginning of chapter 2, the focus will be on two terms: revelations and inspiration.

PE - This week we will be talking about how much physical activity is enough. Students will need to keep a 3 day activity log, which will be due Friday. Students will also be starting a unit on Basketball, which will last for several weeks.

7th Grade

Language Arts-In Literature, students will be reviewing “A Retrieved Reformation” p. 29 with a focus on plot and climax. In “Waiting” p. 37, the students will understand and appreciate a short story about contrasting characters. Skillbuilders will be used to better grasp the Spelling/Vocabulary for “Waiting” and the test will be on Friday, Sept. 17th.

Social Studies- Each night this week students are going over the Daily Geography for the weeks of 8-23, 8-30, 9-6, and this week 9-13 to make any corrections. These corrected weeks of Daily Geography will be used Friday, Sept. 17th to complete the first Daily Geography quiz.

Science- Students are starting chapter 2, It's alive or is it. They will also start a long-term nutrition assignment that will be due October 14th. Students will need to work on this project some at home.

Math- Students will finish Unit 1 this week. There will be a review on Monday and a test on Tuesday.

Religion-Students will take a test on Chapter 2 on Tuesday. They received a study guide for this test last Thursday. On Wednesday we will begin to study the Nature of the Church (Ch. 3). Because the language of the text assumes a fairly advanced vocabulary, it is very important that students use all the supports they have been given (vocab. notebook, study guides, projects, etc.).

PE - This week we will be talking about how much physical activity is enough. Students will need to keep a 3 day activity log, which will be due Friday. Students will also be starting a unit on Basketball, which will last for several weeks.

8th Grade

Language Arts-In Literature, students will focus on nonfiction and the historical connection in “Reflections on the Civil War” p. 45. Spelling/Vocabulary test on Friday, Sept. 17th.

Social Studies- Each night this week students are going over the Daily Geography for the weeks of 8-23, 8-30, 9-6, and this week 9-13 to make any corrections. These corrected weeks of Daily Geography will be used Friday, Sept. 17th to complete the first Daily Geography quiz.

Science- Students are starting chapter 2, Properties of Matter, which will consist of a lab on Friday.

Math-The quiz was switched from Friday to Monday to allow students more time with difficult material. Students will finish Chapter 1 this week. There will be a review next Monday and the test on Tuesday.

Religion- Students will take a test on Chapter 2 on Tuesday. They received a study guide for this test last Thursday. On Wednesday we will begin to study the Nature of the Church (Ch. 3).
