Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .
January 12, 2004
- Reminder: No school next Monday, January 19. Enjoy the holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.
- The first semester ends this Friday, January 16. Report cards will be distributed in the Monday Envelopes on Monday, January 26. Please contact your child's teacher for a conference if you have questions or concerns. It is our partnership in educating children that makes us successful.
- This week is Vocations Awareness Week. We ask for your prayers for vocations to ordained and religious ministries for the Catholic Church. Because all of us are called to a vocation, we ask for your prayers for those who are discerning God's voice in their lives. I also encourage you to speak to your children about the significance of making a vocational choice.
- Please make plans to attend the Saint Ann School Car Raffle Fundraiser on Saturday, January 31. The purchase of one raffle ticket at $200.00 entitles the bearer(s) to a chance at $13,000.00 or a new car valued at $13,000.00 as well as other prizes. Each raffle ticket includes two dinner tickets. Additional dinner tickets may be purchased for $15.00. If you are not able to purchase a ticket, we invite you to find a few other families who may be willing to share the cost of a ticket. Help with ticket sales, set-up and other tasks is needed. Please contact Karl Ettling through the office if you are able to help.
- Congratulations to Maggie Marvin for winning our school Spelling Bee and Patrick Lilly, who will serve as alternate. They will compete at the regional level on January 21.
- We have a Garden Work Day planned for this Friday, January 16. Under the guidance of Chris and Mark Mattingly, the students have been working very hard to prepare the garden for early spring planting. There are several projects that need adult assistance. We need HELP! P.S. Afterwards, plan to have a spaghetti lunch (sponsored by 4th Gr.) with your child!
- Chess Club will meet this Friday, January 16. We take roll call at each meeting so please let the School Office know if your child will not be at this meeting. Please make sure that your child(ren) know that while they are in the Parish Center for chess, they must play chess or they may sit quietly and read a book , do homework, etc. Please be sure to pick up your child(ren) no later than 3:00 PM. If your child is not yet signed up for Chess Club and would like to join, please stop by the School Office for a permission slip.
- Don't forget to mark your calendars with the date and time for Open House-Thursday, January 29, 6:30 PM in the Parish Center. We encourage you to invite family, friends and neighbors. We see this as an opportunity for people with children in grades K-8 to come check out the wonderful educational program at Saint Ann School.
