Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .

December 01, 2003

  • Sunday we began the new liturgical year with the season of Advent. As we prepare for the celebration of Jesus' birth, we also prepare for gift giving. Each year the teachers, staff and I appreciate your thoughtful gifts. However, we are aware of the needs of those in our community and beyond. If you are planning to give gifts to one or more of us, we ask that you consider instead making a donation to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, the school endowment fund, or another charitable organization. You might also consider buying a gift for the Giving Tree (inside the church). We sincerely appreciate your generosity.

  • We remember the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary is next Monday, December 8. This is a holy day of obligation. Please join us at the school mass at 8:15 AM. Masses are also at Saint Ann at 6:25 AM and 5:30 PM. Mass on base is at 11:35AM.

  • Parent Participation Hours: Half of the hours (15 of 30) required of each family are due by January 1st. To ensure that you receive credit for hours you have volunteered, please enter your hours on or before Friday, December 19th. If you don't log your hours, you cannot receive credit. Darlene Hunsinger will take the binder home over the Christmas holidays to tally.

  • Help wanted: We are in need of a volunteer Chess Leader! The Chess Club meets on Flex Fridays in the Parish Hall. We have about 45 regular chess players ranging from 1st grade through 5th grade. If you are interested in helping or want more information, please contact the school office (3754713). Thanks in advance for your consideration.

  • Learn and Earn orders are due tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd. Remember that you earn 25% scrip credit on all orders that you turn in!

  • Reminders and calendar information:
    • Children's Bazaar is December 12… more information to come.
    • Christmas program is December 16 … more information to come.
    • See's candy is available (we have 40 boxes left) … come in or call Miss Rossi for more information (375 4713).
    • Pies and pumpkin rolls are available by calling or the school office.

Have a wonderful week!
