Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .

November 3, 2003

  • Thank you for your help with a successful Halloween Carnival. Special thanks to Mary Anders for coordinating this event. Another special thanks to Father Bob for moving the carnival inside the Parish Center due to weather conditions. Also, thank you to all the parents and room parents who helped with ordering food, bagging candy, selling tickets, ordering prizes, setting up booths, and cleaning up the Parish Center and kitchen. We all had a great time!

  • Thank you for helping your children to participate in the Pumpkin Carving Contest. We have some very creative minds!

  • No school tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 4. The teachers will travel to Bakersfield to attend a workshop related to the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS). We will learn more about the test and how to interpret the results (which should be here soon).

  • No school next Monday, Nov. 10, and Tuesday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veterans Day.

  • The Holiday Bazaar (aka the Holiday Arts and Crafts Show) is around the corner! This is one of our biggest fundraisers for the school year. It is also a fun way to get in your parent participation hours (and get yourself in the Christmas spirit!). In today's Monday Envelope you will find a shift sign-up sheet. Please complete this and return it as soon as possible. Also, when you find yourself overwhelmed with holiday preparations, keep in mind that we have hundreds of pies/pumpkin cake rolls that will be available during the Bazaar. We are still trying to find someone who will take the lead for fry bread. Call Kathy Schumacher (384-2295) if you are interested. Thank you for all of your help!

  • Don't forget that the Scholastic Book Fair will taking place in the school library during the Holiday Bazaar. This is a good source of inexpensive Christmas gifts - and supporting the Book Fair helps earn funds to improve the school library.

  • The Innisbrook fundraiser is “wrapped up.” The orders were delivered last Friday. Thank you to Loren Lilly for coordinating our first fundraiser of the year. Congratulations to Brittany Wojciehowski (who sold the most items) and to Eve Christman (who was a close second). Both of these students won all the prizes including the razor scooter and $100 Toys 'R' Us gift certificates. Also, since both students were such successful sellers, our Innisbrook representative decided to give both sets of parents the resort weekend prize. Please call Loren Lilly (446-2439) if you have not picked up your order, if your order was incorrect, or if you placed an order but did not receive any items.

  • Chess Club will meet this Friday, Nov. 7. We take roll call at each meeting so please let the School Office know if your child will not be at this meeting. Please make sure that your child(ren) know that while they are in the Parish Center for chess, they must play chess or they may sit quietly and read a book, do homework, etc. Please be sure to pick up your child(ren) no later than 3:00 PM. If your child is not yet signed-up for Chess Club and would like to join, please stop by the School Office for a permission slip.

Have a wonderful week!
