6th Grade
Language Arts-The class is working on an literary response essay to their outside reading book. They are also continuing to learn about pronouns (reflexive, intensive, interrogative, demonstrative) and how to avoid common pronoun problems.
Social Studies- Students will continue the development of the Roman culture. On Friday, students begin their preparation for “Walk Through The Ancient World”. The 'Walk Through' program will take place on May 18th . Students will be assigned teams (Roman, Egyptian and Greek) as well as expert word cards on Friday.
Religion-Students will finish the lesson on reconciliation as they learn about contrition and the different rites. The quiz on this lesson will be on Thursday. Students will receive their study notes tomorrow.
Science- Students will complete all the activities for Chapter 3 Exploring Earth's Biomes and review the chapter in preparation for a test on Wednesday.
Math- This week students will look for patterns to help them solve word problems, they will study volume, and they will use formulas to solve word problems. All homework from Unit 8 is due Wednesday, May 5.

7th Grade
Language Arts-Students will complete the rough drafts of their poetry interpretation essays tomorrow. The final draft will be due on Friday. They will study and complete exercises on transitive/intransitive verbs and linking verbs and predicate words. They will memorize common helping verbs, and they should be prepared to be quizzed on all these verbs.
Social Studies- Students will study the contrasting lifestyles of the hunter-gatherers and sedentary villagers of the Mayan, Tiwanakans and the Moche cultures.
Religion-Students will study The Church in Our Time from Chapter 12. In this chapter, students will identify the birthday of the Church and explain the Holy Spirit as the soul of the Church. Students will also define infallibility and indefectibility and distinguish what can change from what cannot change in the Church.
Science- Students will complete all the activities for Chapter 19 Body Organization and Structure, and review the chapter in preparation for a test on Thursday.
Math- This week students will multiply and divide integers, study rational numbers on the number line, and add and subtract rational numbers.
Spanish- This week students will be quizzed on the Apostles' Creed (El Credo de los Apostoles).

8th Grade
Language Arts-Students will examine irregular verbs and learn how to form simple and perfect tenses. They will examine the role of minor characters and discuss parallelism as they read about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. They will begin a project related to slave narratives and the Internet.
Social Studies- This week students are wrapping up their studies on Chapter 12, A Nation Divided. They will proceed to Chapter 13, Reconstruction. Students will be able to assess the South's economic hardships after the Civil War. They will also be able to explain why President Johnson's Reconstruction policies caused conflict with Congress.
Religion- Students will be studying Chapter 19, Marriage and the Family. They will be able to list the two purposes of marriage and explain why they are inseparable. They will also be able to list the obligations of parents and children to the family.
Science- Students will review Chapter 17, The Formations of the Solar System and prepare for a test this week. Chapter 18 will begin with a list of the names of the planets in the order they orbit the sun.
Math-Students are reviewing for their Chapter 9 Test on Factoring. Students will begin to study Chapter 10, Quadratic and Exponential Functions. All homework from Ch 9 is due Friday, April 30.
Spanish- This week students will be quizzed on the Apostles' Creed (El Credo de los Apostoles).
