6th Grade
Language Arts-Students are continuing to practice for our production of Macbeth. In addition, students will continue to study nouns by examining how they are used in sentences. They will review all of Chapter 2 and take a test on it on Monday, March 9.
Social Studies- Students will study interaction and evolution. Students will define a niche and discuss how two or more species share a niche. They will complete the Problem Solving Activity 'To Be or Not to Bee' pg 27. Students will describe how predation can have a positive impact on prey and discuss symbiosis, commensalisms, mutualism and parasitism.
Science- Students will begin study on Ancient Greece. Students will describe the geography of Greece and explain its economy. Students will summarize the four ages of early Greece and explain the rise of city-states.
Math- Students will study pairs of angles, circles and central angles, congruence and constructions, triangles, and quadrilaterals and angle sums.
Religion-Students will focus on the new commandment given by Jesus. They will review Lesson 12 for a quiz on Friday.

7th Grade
Language Arts-After reviewing pronoun antecedents, students will learn about indefinite pronoun problems. They will take a test on Chapter 3, including all forms of pronouns that they have studied, on Tuesday, March 10.
Social Studies- Students will assess the effect of the plague, war and famine on Western Europe. Students will describe the breakdown of feudalism and the rise of central governments.
Science-Students will begin study on Chapter 15 Fishes, Amphibian and Reptiles. Students will list the characteristics of chordates and vertebrates. Students will explain the difference between an ectotherm and endotherm.
Math-Students will begin Unit 7 on Geometry. Students will need a protractor and a compass for Unit 7. They will study points, lines, angles, angle relationships and measuring angles.
Religion- Students will identify and explain the meaning of virtue and distinguish between natural and supernatural virtue. Students will identify the three supernatural virtues - faith, hope and charity.
Spanish- This week students will be tested on how well they can write the two prayers from last week. Students will also practice for the oral test next week on the prayers. QUIZ on 3/2.

8th Grade

Social Studies- This week students will be able to identify the social problems that inspired social reform movements. They will explain the role women played in the temperance movement and other reform movements.
Science- Students will wrap up the study of motion and begin study on the forces of fluids.
Math- Students will use elimination by multiplication and graphing systems of inequalities.
Religion-This week students will wrap up Chapter 12 and continue to Chapter 13, Separated Brethren. This week we will also discuss the controversy surrounding Mel Gibson's movie, The Passion of the Christ.
Spanish- This week students will be tested on how well they can write the two prayers from last week. Students will also practice for the oral test next week on the prayers. QUIZ on 3/2.

General Notes:
A general thank you to all who helped with the fish fry dinner. Please remember to sign up for the next one hosted by the Middle School. Also, encourage bringing bake sale items to the next one.
Middle School Basketball Team
Please return your CLEAN uniforms (jersey & shorts) by this Friday 3/5. We need to immediately re-issue these uniforms for the 5th grade basketball team before their season starts.
7th Grade Trip to Golden Dragon- Thank You to Mrs. Hutto, Mrs. Blubaugh, Mrs. Rall and Mrs. Roberts for driving our students to the Golden Dragon for the China Unit lunch. Please note that we were charged only $4.50 for the student buffet. Each student was given a refund on the requested $7. The Mandate of Heaven awards were as follows: Tang Hsing-Superior Person, Zhou Hsing-Virtuous Person, Sung Hsing- Honorable Person, and Han Hsing-Person of Humanity.
