General Notes:

Mrs. Little, Mrs. Champeny and Mr. Olson wish all of you a holiday of peace and good cheer. We pray for the safety of all who are traveling to be with their families. We also thank God for His great gift of His only Son, Jesus-Emmanuel.

Here's an idea to help your children maintain some perspective before Christmas. Along with asking for a list of presents that your child wants, encourage your child to also make a “gratitude list” including everything for which he/she feels grateful.

Reminder: Since flu season seems to be hitting us here at school, please keep your child home if he or she shows signs of sickness. A student can come back to school no earlier than 24 hrs. after the last sign of fever. We know that this poses a difficulty for parents, but it shows concern for fellow students (and teachers).

Celebrating Christmas Around the World This week students will have a chance to celebrate the coming of Jesus following the traditions of many countries. The school Christmas Pageant follows the Mexican traditions of a Posada. The 7th grade will have an African American Kwanzaa lunch. As Catholics, we have traditions that celebrate this most important birth of Jesus. Each family also has wonderful traditions, many imported from other countries. However you celebrate this time of year, we wish you the joyful exuberance that surrounds the birth of a child, especially the Christ child.

The bread-baking project was a huge success. Students delivered 25 loaves of hand-baked bread, 25 can of soup and 25 cans of fruit to the parish pantry. They hoped this would be a delicious meal for 25 people in Ridgecrest. This was the first time many students made bread. We have flour left over and hope to bake more bread this week on Wednesday from 8am -1pm. A big thank you to everyone who brought donated the ingredients.

Congratulations to Kevin LaBrie for his 1st place win for the Airport Art Contest. Kevin's art is hanging up at the Inyokern Airport. Aurora Ostrom won second place in the Airport Art contest.
