6th Grade

Language Arts-Students will learn about another form of complement-direct objects. They should be reading every night in their novel Midnight Magic.

Social Studies- Students have selected an Egyptian god to research and illustrate. Students will make a 'life-size' painting of their god and describe the life of their god

Science- Science 6- Students will study talus, list the types of mechanical weathering, identify a rift valley, the direction of movement of the ocean floor (away on either side of the ocean ridge), how continents move with the ocean floor, where youngest rocks are found, and the age of rocks on land.

Math-

Religion-Students will have a quiz Wednesday on Lesson 7. They received their study guide today.

7th Grade

Language Arts-Students will review for the a test on Chapter 1 in grammar. Students should be reading The Hobbit every night and answer questions as assigned.

Social Studies- Students will complete the Medieval African Kingdom travel brochure. Students have studied the Niger River and the relationship of vegetation zones to the trade of gold, salt, food and slaves in the growth of Ghana, Songhay and Mali empires.

Science-Students will describe the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration (using Gummy Bears). Students will compare and contrast cellular respiration and fermentation.

Math-

Religion- Students will study the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Students will learn how the Baptismal Seal can be gained through a Baptism of desire and a Baptism of blood.

Spanish-

8th Grade

Language Arts-Students received their new outside reading book, Treasure Island. They should be reading every night.

Social Studies-

Science- Students will describe ionic, covalent, and metallic bonding. Students will describe the properties associated with substances containing each type of bond. Mrs. Champeny and the eighth grade will visit Dr. John Stenger-Smith and the Chemistry Lab at Cerro Coso Community College on Tuesday. Each student will have a chance to complete a lab and tour the Chemistry Department. We need one more driver for 5 students.
